The Internal Committee (IC) of the University of Calicut is constituted in accordance with the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH Act). The Committee is entrusted with the responsibility of preventing, prohibiting, and redressing incidents of sexual harassment at the workplace.
The IC is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment for all employees and stakeholders of the University. It functions as an impartial body to receive complaints, conduct inquiries in a fair and time-bound manner, recommend appropriate action, and promote awareness on gender sensitivity and workplace ethics, while strictly adhering to the principles of natural justice and confidentiality.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is a landmark legislation enacted to provide protection to women against sexual harassment at the workplace and to ensure a safe working environment. The Act defines sexual harassment, outlines the duties of employers, and mandates the constitution of an Internal Committee in every organization with ten or more employees. It provides a structured mechanism for complaint redressal, inquiry procedures, and safeguards against victimization. Compliance with the PoSH Act is a statutory obligation, and the University of Calicut is fully committed to its effective implementation.

Any aggrieved woman employee, student, or stakeholder of the University may file a complaint of sexual harassment with the Internal Committee.
Procedure:
- A written complaint should be submitted within three months from the date of the incident (or the last incident, in case of a series of incidents).
- The complaint may be sent by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or submitted in person to the Presiding Officer of the Internal Committee (Download complaint form).
- The complaint should include a clear description of the incident, along with the date, time, place, and names of the respondent(s) and witnesses, if any.
- Upon receipt, the IC will acknowledge the complaint and initiate the inquiry process in accordance with the PoSH Act and University regulations, typically within seven working days.
Assistance in drafting the complaint may be provided to the complainant, if required.
